        Working with Text

        Text Overview.

      • Direct Thermal

When creating your labels, it is important to position all elements within the dashed red line. This allows for slight movement during the printing process and enhances the overall professionalism of your labels.

Direct thermal printing employs a digital method that generates a black image by applying heat to a thermochromic coating on the label's surface.

        Pigment Colour Printing

In the design of your labels, make sure to keep all critical information within the dashed red line. For colour printing, you may extend background images beyond this line into the bleed area to achieve complete coverage of the label.

      • What does DPI mean and why is it important?

DPI stands for Dots Per Inch which means how many dots of printing you get per inch - It is also known as resolution, so a higher DPI image will also be a higher resolution image. In other words a 300 DPI image has a higher resolution than a 200 DPI image.

A higher DPI means a clearer and crisper print. When it comes to thermal printing labels, the standard DPI is 203, however our machines can go up to 600 DPI. The standard for full colour is 600 DPI, but our colour machines can go up to 1400 DPI.

So how does that affect me?

Whilst we have high resolution printers, we can only work with what you send us. If the image you supply is of a low resolution, it does not matter how fancy our printers are, they can only reproduce the quality that you supply, so your image DPI matters! - The better the quality of image(s), the better your labels are going to look.

        Limitations

Our label designer is set to detect images smaller than 100x100 pixels and 203DPI. If your images do not meet the minimum requirements, you will receive a warning message when you upload them, and in some instances, our label designer will not accept the image upload at all.

      • Also called winding direction, roll direction refers to the way your labels are oriented as you unwind your roll of labels. When applying your labels by machine, the position of your label is extremely important. The labels will need to come off the roll and feed into your machine in a specific position each time. Otherwise, your label will go on upside down or reversed onto your product.

If you are applying the labels by hand, the direction is not as important, and it's your personal preference.
